Would attitude have made a difference?

Despite my fathers’ explicit dislike towards auto drivers, I depend on them quite a lot.  I have always had interesting rendezvous with auto drivers.  It must have been 7 PM local time (For those who doesn't know, I am in India now). I got into an auto to go home. There was heavy traffic, as always. The ride was normal with the expected bumps and hurdles. I was almost three minutes away from home; the auto got hit by another vehicle from behind. The auto driver stopped the auto and went to check what had happened. He came back and updated me that a newly registered car which doesn't even have number plate had hit the auto and the auto got some scratch. He went back and demanded money to repair the damage. As the auto driver had stopped his vehicle abruptly in the middle of the road it is needless to say that he was blocking the traffic. People in the vehicles behind were getting restless and irritated resulting in sound pollution through the noisy horns.  Meanwhile I was in ‘should I get down or not‘dilemma. The auto driver was forced to move his vehicle from the middle of the road to the side. so I asked him to stop the vehicle so that I can get down from it. The new car driver/owner might have thought that he got a chance to get away without dealing with the crap and drove away.  This action pricked the auto driver more. He didn't stop the auto but started chasing the car. Thanks to the traffic he didn't have to chase the car for long time. He went again and demanded money for repair. The car driver/owner was not ready to pay him. The auto driver said,”In that case let us call the police”. I don’t know whether it was that dialogue or lack of time to deal with the issue, the car driver/owner gave some money to the auto driver and left. I really wanted to know how much money the auto driver got. So I told the auto driver to drop me near my home. I started the conversation about how much damage the auto received and how much will it cost him to do the repair etc. He told me it will cost some money every time they take it to the workshop. But usually he doesn't demand money for these small things. He said, “It was the attitude of the person that pricked me.  If he had said a sorry I would have left it there. This happens regularly but people apologize and move on. This person was so stubborn, didn't apologize and he was giving silly excuses. That’s why I took the money”. I suggested him to let go of the issue and not to lose his temper over the matter. I also paid him a little bit extra than usual.

I really wonder whether he would have gone without making it a big deal if the car owner/driver had just apologized.

They brought smile to my face

Its been long time since i have answered the following questions.
Qn No 1: Are you a hindu?
Qn No 2: How many children do you want?
Qn No 3: I just went to temple, prayed to God and came to hotel. Do you go to temple?
(Do you want to know what i was thinking? OMG ! This guy wants to impress me, make me believe that he is a God fearing, well behaved guy. Hence i got suspicious why does he want to make me believe the above?.)
The interesting thing is, i used to know the answers to the above questions.
Ans 1: Yes
Ans 2: Two, preferably first a boy then  a girl.
Ans 3: Yes, when ever i can.
The above would have been my answers if these questions were asked to me three years back. But, By now i have also learned that it is better to say things people want to hear than to say the truth. So I went ahead and said what i thought they want to hear.
Which is the same as above except for answer 2. For which i said, 'i don't know. I Haven't given it a thought'.
PS: I also got some compliments too. Some body said i look beautiful and somebody else wanted to fix me up with some local guys.

From the Land of Ravana

I was always amazed by the character of Kind Ravana. I have so much respect for him. It may also be because, 'I don't know the whole story of mean and bad ass he was'.  I always wanted to visit his place, Swarna nagari Lanka.
And Guess what ?? I am here :)

48.8

It's been long time since i saw this number on the weighing scale when i stand on it. Just to be clear, I mean i am loosing weight :)

Couple more assignments and deadlines, i will soon be a short super model. Just to be clear, I mean, not fat. :)

It is sad that this wont last long, as my assignment deadlines will be soon over and i am going home after that. I will be eating all kinds of food (I mean, cakes and ice creams ) and putting on weight again.

But it is about living in the present and cherishing what we have now.

Having fun with assignments and deadlines with lot of apples, oranges and milk. :)

Loving and Being loved?

“I like not only to be loved, but also to be told I am loved.”
The above line is not mine, of course, you guys would have realized that because I don’t think there is any spelling or grammar mistakes in it.
Going back to the beginning statement, how do you tell a person you love them?
By buying them things, or paying for the things they pick or paying in a restaurant you both went to dine?  Or simple by not forgetting to tell them you love them every single day.
How?
Don’t waste time by thinking of the right answer because it is a tricky question.
I guess the answer is to give more, expect less and trying to find and remember the things they do it for you out of love.
Like waking you up every single day with a good morning kiss or walking with you to the super market even if they don’t want to. There will be a list of those things they do for you out of love.
Last but not the least; never ask questions like- Do you think you could have found someone better? Or do you feel like you have settled for less?
Because it’s not worth knowing :)
Flood my comment box with the things you have done out of love for someone or you have felt loved when someone had done something to you. Looking forward to see a lot of comments :)

Realisation, It happens !

It is really very amazing to be in a university campus, especially with more than 20000 undergraduate students who has time for everything. Every other week there will be new stalls with new products or ideas.

This particular thing caught my eyes on my way to lunch a week back. No one to blame, it was my sole decision to take part in it and see what the result will be. With few small tests, this stall will tell you whether you are a left brainy or right brainy. As my dear friend puts it “We, the logical people would love to get ‘you are right brainy’ card”.

I went to the booth, registered myself to know which side of my brain works best. First, I went to the right brain section, they gave a set of 7 alphabets to make 10 words out of it in one minute or less than that. If you are wondering what happened, your guess is correct. I failed to make ten words. So they told me politely, please move to the next test. The test was … I still don’t know what test was, to arrange some colour patterns. Needless to say, I failed again. So, not definitely a right brain person. I should have concluded that I am left brainy and left the stall. Instead I went on with tests for left brain. I thought I did pretty well in that, but was not good enough. They said I am not a left brainy and asked me to take right brain test. Little did they know I had already failed that. So it turns out that I am not a left brain person either.

So there is nothing to conclude unless I want to conclude I am brainless.. ha ha

Belated Valentine’s Day wishes to all :)

Work a bit ..

After a week of PhD studies, things are still good. Well, I know that it is too early to judge anything related to PhD. I think I am in the honey moon phase of my studies. Let’s see how long does 'this' stays. :)
Question: How long can you stay without using mobile phones? (You can have a land phone and email, internet services, but not allowed to have a mobile phone)

You are welcome to post your answers to my question through comments. :D

Happenings Happen together..

Last days of 2012 were very happening days for me. In between, Yes! I am alive :); back to topic now.

I got my master’s degree confirmation, convocation in July 2013.

We, group of 12, went to Bangkok and Cambodia for New Year. Trip was really awesome.  Fun, jokes, mood swings, anger, quarrels, lack of food (veg food*), gossips, love and what not. It was all fun.

Two guys in our group reminded me of Rocking Raphel on my way to Bangkok. Oh I realize, how much I miss his jokes.  Allow me to quote some of their jokes* here.

Joke 1: What will an unclean beggar ask a foreigner? (Clue: both of them are in Thailand)
Ans: 1 bath (baht is the currency of Thailand and its pronunciation is similar to BATH)
End of joke 1

Joke 2: After seeing the above board, Bob violated the traffic signs within the airport, do you know why?
Ans: Because he thought the violator will be fined 50-2000 baht, in which case he will fined -1950 baht i.e. he will receive 1950 baht if he violates the signs.
End of joke 2

Last but not the least, I wanted to write this as another article titled ‘One small step for me but a giant leap for Mankind’, but it is too much work, So here is the news, I got offer letter from NTU for PhD in communication. YES! I said PhD,
and I am taking it. Yaaa Huuu….
